SMS Opt-In
PetSit (https://petsits.me), operated by Bernardo Arevalo, texts pet owners about bookings they make with a sitter. This page shows exactly how pet owners opt in. Consent is collected on our website, on the account-details step of sign-up at https://petsits.me/login?signup=1 (after signing in, a new pet owner is asked for their name, mobile number and address).
The consent step
This is the account-details form a pet owner fills in. The mobile number field and the texting checkbox are together in one box, and the checkbox gives permission to text the number entered there; it is optional and never pre-ticked. Agreeing to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy is a separate checkbox. PetSit sends only transactional (booking) texts, never marketing.
What happens next
- People who leave the box unticked get no texts. They can turn texts on later in their Profile, which shows the same disclosure.
- We record when consent was given.
- On opting in, they receive one confirmation text:
PetSit: You're signed up for booking texts from PetSit: deposit requests, confirmations, payment reminders and a thank-you after a sit. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, STOP to opt out.
- Replying STOP stops all texts; START resumes them; HELP replies with our contact, are.nardo@icloud.com.
- Sitters are never texted.
- We do not sell or share your SMS opt-in data or personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.
